“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.”
― Kurt Vonnegut
You may have been challenged throughout the years to not to shut your garage door behind you when you get home, and actually go outside and spend time with the kiddos and neighbors, or maybe keep your nose out of your smart phone, which I definitely have a hard time avoiding with my crazy business schedule. There are so many other things that we need to be doing, or after a long work day the last thing you want to do is go hang and chat with people. Well, you never know what someone is going through that may live next to you, and what contribution you can bring to your community until you just step out and put yourself into a place of friendship to those you live around in community. It’s not always easy to do or going to be pretty, but living in community is necessary and so important to our way of life and we need each other, and I would encourage you all to try an step outside of what is comfortable and go get to know your neighbors a little bit better. You might be surprised and the life altering friendships that might be formed.
A great way to live in community and start new friendships in your neighborhood is to organize some form of an event. For years I’ve always had neighbors over for grill-outs and bonfires during holidays, but have just recently found a great way, thanks to our great neighbors The Crowson Family, to strengthen community by having a ton of fun and that’s through MOVIE NIGHT!!!! They introduced us to SeeMedia, our neighbors and I had a blast. Food, friends and fun – check out the pics below from our killer movie night and give SeeMedia a call and book it for yourself. You’ll have a blast!
Do what you can NOW for your community, as they can be your best friends and help you in some of your toughest times in life. I know that our neighbors are extremely close, and there are so many that have been there for us in fun times and tough times. I can honestly say, that we couldn’t live this life without the amazing neighbors and friends that we have today. THANKS NEIGHBORS!
